Electrify PDX

ElectrifyPDX is a non-profit home certification program that helps Portland homeowners and renters transition their homes to clean energy.

How our program works:

  • Sign up at electrifypdx.org and get a sign to post in a visible spot. Get resources, contractor referrals, and access to a growing community.
  • Make a plan: Identify what you can electrify in your home. Get a home energy assessment and estimates from trusted local contractors.
  • As you clean up your electric supply and electrify each system in your home, apply badges to your sign.
  • When your home is 100% powered with clean energy, display your certification plaque outside your home.
  • Start with your home, then influence your neighbors and friends. (You’re an influencer whether you know it or not.)

Our mission is to accelerate the transition to renewable, efficient electric in Portland-metro area's residential sector, and our program is designed to shift public opinion by creating a visible movement of people committed to transitioning their homes away from fossil fuels and old electric. We host events, conduct community presentations about the benefits of home electrification, and provide helpful resources such as an electrification-friendly contractor list, low-income electrification programs directory, a monthly newsletter, and an active facebook group. ElectrifyPDX is the host of the annual Electrify Portland! Home Electrification Fair, a free, festive, one-day event for homeowners and renters ready to start transitioning their homes from gas (or old electric) to efficient electric.

ElectrifyPDX is a program of Families for Climate. It was founded by Eli Spevak and Noelle Studer-Spevak in late 2022. Shannon Wilson is the program manager for ElectrifyPDX.
