Seeds for the Sol is 501©3 nonprofit based in Corvallis Oregon since 2013. Our mission is to make energy efficiency upgrades accessible and affordable for all income levels and demographics, by providing up-to-date information, guidance, resources and gap-funding to eligible households. Seeds for the Sol has provided support and funding to 250 households and can help make energy efficiency easy and affordable. Energy efficiency upgrades include residential solar, insulation, ducted heat pumps, ductless heat pumps and heat pump water heaters. The seed money for energy efficiency projects comes from your neighbors, faith communities and City/County in the form of loans that are then passed on at zero interest to income-qualified clients. Once the system is installed, the loan payments are set at what the expected energy savings will be, creating no-added cost to the home while improving efficiency and home value. Most loans are repaid within 2-5 years and then the homeowner sees the benefit in their own pocket.
Seeds for the Sol neighbor-to-neighbor loans provide a meaningful way for climate concerned people to share their wealth with a proven community climate action that stabilizes homeownership for low-income households and helps concentrate state and federal incentives in their own community. People who wish to accelerate climate recovery through loans or donations can contact Seeds for the Sol at info@seedsforthesol.org.
